Car listing photo size: ratio, resolution and file size

Choose suitable sizes for car listing photos. Understand 4:3 framing, pixel dimensions and file size, and prevent cropped vehicles in marketplace previews.

Car photo size involves three different decisions: aspect ratio, resolution and file size. A landscape 4:3 image might contain 2400 × 1800 pixels. Its megabyte size also depends on compression and image content. None of these values is a universal requirement across all listing channels.

Start with a useful ratio

4:3 is a practical working standard for a vehicle series. Leave space around mirrors, roof and bumpers because websites may generate different thumbnails. A tightly framed car can be cut off in another crop.

Retain the original ratio when standard cropping would discard important information. Assess cabin images separately too.

More pixels do not guarantee more detail

Use a sharp source with adequate resolution. Enlarging a blurred file does not restore genuine detail. Keep the original at full quality and derive an appropriate publication file from it.

Avoid repeated saving with heavy JPEG compression. Start each export from the original or a high-quality intermediate.

Which files does 123CarStudio support?

123CarStudio accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP for selection, up to 25 MiB and 40 megapixels per photo. Large sources are optimised before processing, so the selection limit differs from the processed upload size. Export HEIC, DNG and RAW files to JPG first.

Use the crop control to review framing and retain the original ratio where needed.

Check each publishing channel

Consult current requirements for Marktplaats, AutoScout24 and your inventory website. Then inspect the actual listing preview on desktop and mobile. Check complete vehicles, legible text and colour.

Treat 2400 × 1800 as one possible working file size, not a promised output resolution for every AI generation or a marketplace standard.
