Professional used-car photos: 10 approval checks
Check used-car photos for sharpness, equipment, condition and consistency. Use these ten checks to approve a complete image set before publication.
Professional used-car photos are clear, complete and faithful to the vehicle for sale. Review more than the lead image. An attractive series can still include incorrect wheels, obscured damage or a cropped bumper.
The approval checklist
- Identity: every image shows the same car and specification.
- Coverage: overview shots include complete bumpers, roof and mirrors.
- Sharpness: badges and relevant details remain legible when enlarged.
- Colour: paint and upholstery are recognisable without strong filters.
- Wheels: spokes, tyres and existing damage match.
- Lights: lamp shapes and internal elements agree with the source.
- Glass: window edges and views through glass contain no implausible distortion.
- Accessories: tow bars, roof rails and aerials have not appeared or disappeared.
- Condition: relevant wear and damage remain visible.
- Sequence: crop, setting and order form a coherent series.
Review at two sizes
Enlarge each result to find small differences. Then inspect the mobile listing for tight crops, dark details and confusing ordering. These checks serve different purposes.
A second colleague can help with uncertain images, but should also see the original. Merely deciding whether a photograph “looks real” is insufficient.
Make rejection actionable
Describe the specific issue, such as “distorted right mirror edge” or “missing wheel damage”. That helps determine whether to regenerate, choose another background or retake the source.
Keep rejected images separate from the publication set. In 123CarStudio, comparison comes before approval and download. A delivered image uses a credit; a technically failed generation does not. Rejecting a delivered image for quality is therefore different from a technical failure.
